    Profile

Kelly GarrettKelly Garrett was portrayed by Jaclyn Smith, who reprised the role in a cameo in the 2003 film Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle. She is the only Angel who stayed with the Townsend Agency for the show's entire 5-season run (1976-1981). Uncommonly beautiful but not uniquely so, Smith's image is provided as evidence of Kelly's doppelganger, not once but twice (Seasons One and Four). Kelly has common sense developed from firsthand experience. She is skilled at self defense with her hand, mind or a gun and she remains an innocent yet sveldt temptress. Physically Kelly Garrett is one of the real classic beauties of the seventies having a pinup girl quality. She is sultry, sexy and classy and the most sensitive of the three Angels. Kelly Garrett is an orphan and she was raised by nuns in the  St. Agnes Orphanage. She managed to turn her life around by joining the police force, where she gained confidence and integrity. She was later recruited by Charlie and joined the Townsend Agency to lead an independent life. She is known as the street-wise and tough Angel and probably had the bumpiest time of any Angel, enduring and miraculously surviving countless car chases, kidnappings, chloroformings, explosions, hostage situations, murderous post-hypnotic suggestion, unwitting heroin addiction, and two separate incidents of a gunshot to the head.

It's a miracle she survived - but it's also a testament to the strength under that sometimes shy exterior. Kelly Garrett was possibly the most sensitive and vulnerable of the Angels. It is no surprise that she spent her personal time helping disadvantaged children.

She volunteered at a center for autistic kids, and when she found out that a single parent police officer she was working with physically abused his son, she took him to court and convinced him that he needed counseling. She is single and lives in Los Angeles with her large poodle, Albert. Kelly's house number is 326.

Past:  Kelly Garrett came from a hard background. She was born in Dallas. She never met her parents and was raised at the St. Agnes Orphanage, raised by nuns and grew up in a number of foster homes and came dangerously close to a life of crime.  Her last name Garrett was given by a nun at St. Agnes Orphanage. Although Kelly was initially assigned a "streetwise" personality, it faded over time to match Jaclyn Smith's more sensitive and refined personality.

Fashion: Turtlenecks with blazers or silky blouses and gold jewelry. Bikinis, bathing suites and haute couture dresses. Kelly look heavenly in everything she wears. Especially in a bikini.

Romance: Most of the Angels found themselves romantically involved at one time or another with someone they encountered on the job, but Kelly is the only Angel depicted having a romance with someone the girls don't ultimately expose as a felon. In the first season, Kelly considerately, if dishonestly, breaks up with her boyfriend Dr. Alan Samuelson (played by Tom Selleck sans mustache - Episode "Target: Angels"), when she fears the hit man making attempts on her life will put him in jeopardy.

She also fell in love with the handsome government agent Carl Hansworth  (played by Dennis Cole) in the episode "Terror on Skis" and with Bill Cord (played by Dallas's Patrick Duffy) and she almost left The Townsend Agency in the episode "One Love, Two Angels".

Car: She drives a beige Ford Mustang II with license plate number CALIFORNIA 356-CFX (which gets blown up, twice, in the First Season Episode  "Angels on Wheels" and in the Season Four Episode  "Toni's Boys"). When the Townsend Agency moved in Hawaii in Season 5 she owned a red car.

Covers and Techniques: Kelly Garrett is an expert in karate and martial arts and an excellent gun shooter. She is also an expert in picking locks and doors. She often operates under the guise of dancer or model and her specialty cover consists of a Southern accent and, sometimes, glasses. Still, she is the only Angel to have passed herself off as a being from another galaxy. In actuality, her extraterrestrial exploits are limited to jumping a motorcycle through a ring of fire as a carnival performer, jerry-rigging a sabotaged seatbelt to avoid falling from a biplane during aerial acrobatics, and safely landing a passenger jet.

While it was Jill who gets tapped to go undercover as a dance instructor in Season One, Kelly's talents in that area flourish in her absence, as she attempts to teach Sabrina how to hula, performs in an arena ice dancing spectacular with Kris, belly dances in a hookah bar, appears in a dance performance in a Las Vegas casino, and by the final season stars in a prospective Broadway song-and-dance revue.

Why did she leave: Kelly was shot in the head while confronting an embezzler during the series' swan song episode, wherein the Angels saw the end of the Townsend Agency and Charlie in bodily form.
